Eating Out

For such a small village, we now have a good choice of places where you can get a bite to eat and a nice drink.

There's something to suit most tastes and budgets, without you having to travel too far afield. Indeed, the ones in Newtonmore are all within easy walking distance of Clune House.

So, what's on offer? (For the ones marked with an *, it is best to book.)

In Newtonmore:

The Glen Hotel.

Chris & Kim provide good value food in a very nice atmosphere.

Letterbox Restaurant*.

Douglas & his team now offer a great value evening menu with a wide choice of well cooked dishes.

The Braeriach and The Balavil.

Both hotels serve good, honest pub grub in a convivial atmosphere.

The Wild Flour.

A really friendly cafe where you can enjoy a nice cuppa, good home baking and delcious light lunches.

The Takeaway.

The village also has a great Takeaway offering good International Cuisine, perfect for watching that sunset from the comfort of your car.

In Kingussie:

The Silverfjord*.

Under the stewardship of Clare & Gareth, this small hotel has gone from good to excellent!

The Happy Haggis.

A top-notch chippy with great fish & chips, other things too and really friendly staff.

The Potting Shed.

This spendid gem is hidden away but not hard to fine a couple of miles north of Feshie Bridge. Quite simply the best cakes around!

Further afield.

Not too far north of us, about 15 minutes by car, in Aviemore, there's an even wider range of bars and restaurants.
